There’s a big issue in the world these days that most of us don’t even realize, but that’s causing fitness confusion every day. We are all trying to figure out how to get fit fast.
Imagine going out to a restaurant. You walk in hungry and ready to eat, only to have to wait over 30 minutes for a table. Then when you finally sit down, you open the menu to see 8 full pages of options! (Thanks, Cheesecake Factory.)
Now you don’t know what to choose! How do you decide what to eat? What are you in the mood for? Do you just keep flipping back and forth until something jumps out at you? Or are you doomed to starve because you just can’t make up your mind? Ok, that’s a bit melodramatic, but you get the point: too many choices only leads to confusion! And confusion leads you nowhere down the path of how to get fit fast.
An excess of choices isn’t just an issue in the food industry; it’s in every industry. That’s the beauty of capitalism: so many products emerge that continue to change the world as we know it. Cars, airlines, gas stations, restaurants, and grocery stores all come in a variety of options.
But all these options also dumbfound and paralyze us, a phenomenon known as the “paradox of choice”.
The fitness industry is no different. Where and how you decide to exercise may be up to you, but everyone wants your money. There’s so much marketing everywhere—Product X promises this, Cleanse Y offers that—not to mention your friends each tell you to train at their group class (or worse, they don’t encourage you to train at all… but that’s a topic for another time). With so many fitness options, how do you know what’s best for you? How do you know which one will teach you how to get fit fast?
I can’t count how many infomercials I’ve seen for products made specifically to target your legs, abs, buns, and total body, all endorsed by stars and featuring super fit women working out at home.
I’m still amazed how many different fitness books are on Amazon talking about how to get fit fast (over 410,000 and counting, but I hear this one is really good), and that’s on top of all the books that are no longer in print or that have been forgotten, lost, or destroyed.
To this day, people are being hustled with “exercise tapes”. The only thing that’s changed is the medium, from VHS tapes to DVDs, now online with Youtube.
The trippy part about all of this is that the aesthetic appeal of fitness and physical exercise only started around the ‘50s! This industry is still very young, but already it seems oversaturated and confusing.

All the marketing we’re exposed to has clouded our understanding of health and fitness. So let me clear up some of that fitness confusion right now on how to get fit fast:
ALL FITNESS SYSTEMS WORK!
You can brisk walk, practice High-Intensity Interval Training, Pilates, pole dancing, or yoga, take hip hop dance classes, follow Richard Simmons DVD or VHS workouts, or check out your local CrossFit, Powerlifting, or Globo gym. You can even do bodyweight exercises at home.
It will all work, I promise. You just have to stay consistent and be aware that no matter what you do, you will eventually hit a plateau.
So here’s the question you need to ask yourself: “If all fitness systems work and all teach me how to get fit fast, how do I know which system is best for me?”
That’s a question only you can answer. We all start somewhere! The only way to find out how far you can go is by trying. If you can’t progress in one thing, try something else.
The good news is that if you have questions, there are a lot of resources you can search through for the answers.
You can also find a great coach who will save you a lot of time by teaching you good training techniques.
There’s nothing like being part of a community, so if you like to exercise with other people, you should check out group classes at your local gyms. The styles of fitness from pole dancing to chair dancing to Zumba offer many opportunities to turn you on to fitness.
Or maybe you’re a “lone wolf” type who would rather work out with earbuds in. If that’s the case, try lifting weights on your own or going for a long run by yourself to clear your head.
Need a personal trainer and help with how to get fit fast, but can’t work with one at the gym? Nowadays, you even have the option to train with a coach any time via online personal training!
Whichever style of fitness training you choose, the important thing is to do it with all your heart. Commit to fitness for the healthy and fun lifestyle you deserve!
The world of fitness can be confusing and deceptive, so you shouldn’t trust everyone. Think of TV personalities like Dr. Oz who support questionable and possibly ineffective products (Shake Weight, anyone?).
So don’t worry about all the fitness confusion and misinformation out there, like celebrity endorsements and fancy marketing. Know that all fitness programs work as long as you stay consistent. In the end, your fitness is up to you!
